Bristol Urban Design Forum seeks new members

Bristol Urban Design Forum: Call for New Members

The BUDF is seeking to expand its membership to strengthen its capabilities to offer positive design advice to Bristol City Council. It is seeking articulate individuals who have professional qualifications or significant experience in the design and development field, and who are committed to improving the standards of design and development within the City of Bristol.

The main function of the BUDF is to undertake monthly design reviews of pre-application proposals or planning applications, or alternatively strategic reviews of regeneration frameworks, masterplans, design guidance or design policies. In both instances the cases for review are referred to the BUDF by the City Planning Department.

Panel membership will require you to attend perhaps four occasions annually at a day long review held in the Architecture Centre, and to spend some time briefing yourself for these reviews with material provided by means of the BUDF Members’ website. All activities are unremunerated.

The BUDF is seeking to expand its range of activities as regards the design of development in Bristol so it would also like to hear from prospective members their ideas about possible new ventures that it might undertake in this regard. This will be part of the interview process.

Appointment will be by competitive interview with Members of the Forum on the 6th December 2011. Please indicate your preferred time on that day. An Equal Opportunities Form will be provided for you on the day.

For further details about the Forum and how to apply please visit the web site at www.budf.org.uk

Please supply a short CV covering your experience in this field, and the name of any Forum Member or senior design professional/design activist who could vouch for your capabilities.
