Inspiring great place-making
As the Green Capital year ends I wanted to share my experience as a pedestrian (and occasional cyclist). It seems to me that private car use in Bristol has not reduced and remains both high and destructive. Buses continue to be delayed by streams of cars, a very high proportion with only one occupant.

The scheme has been revised to incorporate some of the suggestions made by local people, in order to try to secure planning permission, which will pave the way to millions of pounds of profit for the developer. It should still be refused because:
1 At a time of high housing need among low income residents of Bristol it has no social rented accommodation, and a pitiful token ten shared ownership flats.
2 In particular there are homeless people in and around the area who would benefit…

Went to an inspiring talk on Monday in Stokes Croft where a local architect discussed the current proposals for the Carriageworks site and other options. My understanding of what is proposed for the arena is based only on largely aerial visualisations, so please let me know if there is more - or contradictory - information available.
