MY BACKGROUND - in partial justification for using DesignBristol to promote good redevelopment of the St Mary Le Port Site.

Studied architecture in Bristol, final year design thesis a library of commerce in High Street. Active member of Bristol Architect Forum in late 1950's and campaigner against the 1960's NU building and Bank of England. Shareholder in City Docks Ventures - which bought and saved the dockside cranes.

Supporter of street tree planting in 1970's, including to the dockside trees to the original Bush House/Arnolfini conversion. This, with Watershed, were amongst my team projects in Bristol projects during 27 year career at JT Design Build.                                 

Since retirement continued to indulge my passion for Bristol's environment via  Redland & Cotham Amenities Society - planning comments, writing local guides, design of improvements to local parks. Also Bristol Civic Society, Public Spaces Group - comments on planning policy, bidding(successfully) for funding of improvements to Castle Park, researching and writing Walled City Walk guide.
