Who we are

Founded by the architectural community in 1996, The Architecture Centre has developed a diverse programme for a wide audience. The Centre is part of a network of 23 architecture centres in the UK, and we were joined in the South West in 2006 by the Architecture Centre for Devon and Cornwall.

What is an architecture centre?

An architecture centre works for the creation of better quality neighbourhoods, buildings and public spaces across the UK.

This is achieved through:

  • Participation: enabling real public engagement in architecture, the built environment and the public realm;
  • Advocacy: promoting the case for architecture and design of the highest quality;
  • Education: developing a greater public understanding of architecture, design and the public space.

The Architecture Centre Network links the 23 established and emerging UK centres, and the Network is supported by CABE. The Architecture Centre is a founding member of the Architecture Centre Network.

Support for the Centre comes from a variety of regular and project funding, income generated by consultancy and training, ticket sales, partnerships, our membership scheme and sponsorship. We welcome new members and offer attractive sponsorship opportunities.

The Architecture Centre is supported by Arts Council England and has a partnership agreement with UWE.
